Discovering how learning changes the connections between neurons
Discovering how learning changes the connections between neurons
We can recall information over our entire lifespan, yet we do not know how it is physically encoded in our brain and how connections are maintained over time. We conduct neuroscience research using the mouse system to understand how activity leads to structural changes at synapses that allow us to learn. We study what can go wrong with this system and how this leads to disorders such as autism when we are young, and neurodegeneration later in life.
